Dr. Romea Mitchell (Dr. Romea) is a Board
Certified Therapeutic Optometrist and Optometric Glaucoma
Specialist.
Dr. Romea is a dynamic speaker, writer and passionate patient
educator and advocate. She uses her bilingual (English/Spanish)
skills to further her conviction that an educated patient is the
best consumer.
In 1999 Dr. Romea received her Bachelors of Science Degree in
Biological Sciences
(Pre-Med) from Florida International University (FIU), Miami,
Florida graduating in the top 10% of her large graduating class.
Prior to her studies at FIU Dr. Romea earned an Associate of Science
Degree in General Agriculture from the College of Agriculture in
Pasley Gardens, Jamaica, graduating at the top of her class and
became the first female to receive the trophy for best overall
academic achievement in the history of the college.

On June 4, 2006 Dr. Romea received her Doctor of Optometry Degree (O.D.)
from the New England College of Optometry, Boston, Massachusetts,
again graduating with honor as a member of the Beta Sigma Kappa
Honor Society.
After graduation from optometry school Dr. Romea
migrated to Houston, Texas from her home state of Florida and
shortly thereafter purchased the practice of a retiring optometrist
and Global Eye Q was formally established.
Dr. Romea’s passion for patient education is driven by her firm
belief that an informed patient is the best consumer. Providing
patients with clear concise information about their health allow
each patient to actively participate in their eye-care. The results
are lifestyle changes that positively impact vision and eye health.
Traveling, site-seeing, motivational speaking, church activities,
counseling and listening to worship music are some of the activities
Dr. Romea enjoys.
